The M.Sc. (Automotive Systems Engineering) programme attracts numerous applications from German students as well as from international students. Applicants are therefore advised to submit their application as early as possible. All applicants should meet the prerequisites stated below and their application should contain all the documents required (see below and application form). All applications that are incomplete as of the deadline for applications will be rejected.
In order to apply to the RWTH M.Sc. (Automotive Systems Engineering) programme, you should meet the following prerequisites:
- you are a holder of a recognised first degree (Bachelor of Science or Engineering or equivalent, related to automotive engineering), awarded by an internationally recognised university-level institution
- you have performed well above average in your undergraduate studies, especially in the subjects listed here.
- you fulfill the language requirements for the RWTH Master Programmes:
In order to ensure that all students will complete their master programme within the allotted time frame, applicants will be carefully selected. The following documents should be submitted:
· the online application for admission form for RWTH Master Programmes
· a copy of all first degree academic certificates in the original language
· idem, which is a translation of your degree certificate made by an officially recognised translator in either German, English, or French, in case the original documents are not written in one of these languages
· a copy of all transcripts or other academic records that give proof of your undergraduate studies including credits and grades achieved in each single subject
· idem, which is a translation made by an officially recognised translator in either German, English, or French, in case the original documents are not written in one of these languages
· A copy of your GRE certificate. The official GRE score report must be received by the RWTH directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The ETC/TOEFL – Code for RWTH is 8504.
All Applicants who are not Nationals of Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, English-speaking Canada, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Republic of Ireland, Jamaica, Kiribati, Liberia, Mauritius, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Trinidad&Tobago, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia or Zimbabwe and are applying for the English-taught programme must submit language certificates ( see Language Requirements for RWTH Master Programmes taught in English ( http://www.rwth-aachen.de/go/id/drw/#2 ) ).
In this case please submit:
· a copy of the TOEFL certificate, with a score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based or more. The TOEFL score report must not be older than two years in November of the year in which the Master Programme (for which you have applied) will begin. The official TOEFL score report must be received by the RWTH directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Please do not use a code number, instead write the address of the International Office on the ETS request form. For the Master Programme taught in English no certification of knowledge of German is required, however RWTH does invite successful applicants to attend a free basic German language course starting in September.
Applicants of the German-taught programme must provide proof of their German language proficiency.

In this case please submit either:
· Applicants who have already passed the German University Language Test (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang - DSH) or an equivalent examination, meet the linguistic requirements for the master programme. If this applies to you, please send a certified copy of your DSH certificate, or equivalent.
or
· Applicants who have a basic knowledge of the German language, can still apply for an RWTH master programme taught in German, but you must learn more German prior to the beginning of your planned study programme. You should have passed the German Language Certificate (Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache - ZDaF) with the result of at least Befriedigend (Note 3) in order to prove basic knowledge of German. In addition to applying for a Master programme you will have to also apply to attend an advanced German language course from April to September. Applicants enrolled on the course will sit the DSH-Certificate prior to beginning the Master programme in October. If this applies to you, please submit a certified copy of your ZDaF certificate.
Deadline for applications is 1st March for the English-taught Master of Science (Automotive Systems Engineering)!! The deadline for applications for the German-taught Master of Science (Automotive Systems Engineering) is the 15th of January for students who do not have the DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulgang). For students with DSH, the deadline for applications for the German-taught Master of Science (Automotive Systems Engineering) is the 1st of March.
