International Automotive Congress 2008 in Shenyang Successfully Completed

The first International Automotive Congress 2008 took place in Shenyang, China, from October, 30th to November, 1st 2008. The event was organised with a combined effort of the Forschungsgesellschaft Kraftfahrwesen mbH Aachen (fka), the Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge RWTH Aachen (ika), the Vogel Media Group China, as well as Shenyang People’s Municipal Government. The organisers were pleased to welcome approx. 320 participants, both from China and from foreign countries. In addition to the course of lectures, automotive suppliers and engineering service providers were able to present themselves at the accessory exhibition of the International Automotive Congress 2008. The fka also represented herself with a booth and showcased a new logo and modern corporate colours. The new guiding principles of the fka include energy efficiency, safety and driving pleasure, and stand for the interdisciplinary working approach and the competences regarding the full vehicle development.

Current issues regarding research and development in the fields of energy efficiency (e.g. motor technology, alternative driving systems, alternative fuels, energy management), safety (e.g. active and passive vehicle safety systems, driving assistance systems), driving pleasure (e.g. active chassis systems, tyre technology) as well as market developments (e.g. strategic alignment, growth markets, requirements) were subject of 23 lectures in total.

A walkthrough of the European Union Economic Development Zone Shenyang, guided tours of the BMW-Brilliance plant Shenyang and of the Würth Industrial Park Shenyang complemented the program at the last day of the event.

The idea of organising the International Automotive Congress 2008 in China emerged 3 years ago. Due to the excellent planning and preparation, the idea was successfully realised. Moreover, a platform for further exchange and cooperation between Chinese and German automotive experts was established by this congress.
