MTE Lecture Series

Mobility is the basis for participation in social and economic life and at the same time the cornerstone of a country's economic development. Population growth, the desire for individual mobility, urban sprawl and the global increase in economic output have led to a significant increase in individual and freight traffic in recent years. Local and regional congestion of the transport network, increased accident risks, noise and pollutant emissions are the unmistakable results of this development.

These complex questions about upcoming mobility solutions and their economic, ecological and social interactions require interdisciplinary cooperation not only in research but also in teaching. In addition to specialized experts, interdisciplinary qualified professionals are needed to shape future mobility.

The lecture series of the Mobility and Transport Engineering (MTE) profile area therefore provides exciting insights into the mobility of the future. Topics ranging from the development of new methods for transport planning and organization, intelligent transport infrastructures, and conceptual design of innovative means of transport to mobility systems of different automation levels for passenger and freight transport are addressed there. A special focus is on the needs and requirements of individuals and society with regard to future mobility.

The lecture series takes place biweekly during the summer and winter semester. On Tuesday evenings, speakers from the institutes, represented in the profile area, present their various research topics and their applications. Afterwards, there is time for questions and discussions.

The lectures are part of the Mobility Lecture Series and are aimed at students and experts from the broad field of mobility as well as interested fellow citizens and are free of charge.
