SLAM
Research Project to establish a nationwide Rapid-Charging Grid for axes and metropolises
With the project “SLAM”, a consortium consisting of partners of research and industry will explore conditions for a comprehensive rapid-charging grid for electric mobility in Germany, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Until 2017, it is planned to setup 600 CCS rapid-charging stations which will load batteries up to 80 percent of their maximum capacity within less than thirty minutes. An interdisciplinary research team of the RWTH Aachen University, coordinated by the ika, develops a new concept for determining efficient and sustainable location parameters for CCS rapid-charging stations. The ika will run empirical field studies to examine user perception and acceptance as well as the perceived additional value of the technology. The total budget of the project is 20.7 mio €. Leader of the consortium is the BMW AG. Further partners are the Daimler AG, the Porsche AG, the Volkswagen AG, the DG Verlag, the EnBW and the Stuttgart University.
