Early practice is key!
The ika already offers school students the opportunity to gain an insight into the exciting research at the institute. A variety of events are designed to awaken interest in research and to get young people excited about technology. The following events are offered by the ika at regular intervals.

Pupil University
This annual event gives high school students the opportunity to get a taste of a STEM subject at RWTH for a week. The ika is part of the mechanical engineering student university and gives students an impression of how exciting and varied mechanical engineering studies can be.

Pimp my Pocket Bike
Working with friends to dismantle a pocket bike into its individual parts, then optimizing, painting and reassembling it ready to ride - that's exactly what "Pimp my Pocket Bike" is all about. The project, initiated by the Rotary Club, is deliberately aimed only at young girls to give them an early insight into the world of technology.

Girls' Day
Every year, a group of interested girls come to the ika as part of Girls Day. They get an insight into our daily work as engineers at the Institute of Automotive Engineering and can try out practical activities as technicians themselves. The goal is to strengthen young girls' interest in technical professions!
