RWTH Motorsport startet im Langstreckenpokal auf dem Nürburgring

Das Team des Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika) startet am kommenden Wochenende (11.Juni 2011) mit seinem erstarkten Audi A3 beim 4h Rennen zur Langstreckenmeisterschaft VLN auf der Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

Nach dem erfolgreichen Probelauf im vergangenen Herbst haben die Aachener das Auto über den Winter mit Unterstützung zahlreicher Partner (agr engineering, GKN, Raeder automotive, ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, Stahlwille, Vector und Dunlop) optimiert. Damit ist der A3 für die starke Konkurrenz in der VLN-Klasse SP3T, unter anderem mit zahlreichen VW Scirocco und Audi TT, gut gerüstet.

Als Fahrer stehen mit Andreas Middendorf und Ulrich Andree erneut die beiden erfahrenen Langstreckenpiloten zur Verfügung, die bereits im vergangenen Jahr das Potenzial des RWTH-Rennwagens aufzeigen konnten.

Am Freitag steht der erste Härtetest des neuen Fahrzeugs im freien Training an, bevor es am Samstagmorgen (08.30 h) in das Qualifiying geht. Das Rennen startet um 12.00 h. Interessierte Besucher sind herzlich eingeladen, das Team des ika in der Boxengasse zu besuchen.

In addition, there is up-to-date software and hardware equipment for all necessary simulation disciplines. ika employs about 120 permanent staff and more than 80 student assistants. In addition, around 100 student research and development projects are carried out on a permanent basis.
