AIGGREGATE
AI-enhanced collective intelligence for resilient, ethical and user-centric awareness and decision making in CCAM applications
AIGGREGATE is a European research and innovation project that tackles the complex challenges of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM). The main goal of the project is to enhance safety, resilience, and human-like control by integrating hybrid intelligence and collective decision-making into the entire automated driving process chain. By combining artificial intelligence with external vehicle and infrastructure data (V2X), the project enables a shared, robust situational awareness that goes beyond perception alone, by being capable of anticipating and understanding real-world traffic behavior. This approach marks a shift from traditional systems reliant on onboard sensors only towards collective perception and decision-making.
The project emphasizes user-centric and ethically oriented approaches, ensuring that automated systems are not only technically advanced but also trustworthy and adaptive. Furthermore, the AIGGREGATE project builds upon solutions that are explainable, trustworthy, and human-centric, extending the work of the EU project AITHENA.
The Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) plays a key role in the project. Its contributions include:
- A comprehensive development platform for the integration of software and physical demonstrations.
- V2X enables the development of a collective situational awareness component that integrates data of multiple connected traffic participants with data fused from their own sensors.
- Based upon this enriched data, a new AI-based prediction module will be developed, capable of accurately predicting the behaviour of various road users.
