MILA.mobility

Middleware-Integration von Leitstellen- und Dispositionssystemen für Autonome Mobilität

MILA.mobility is developing and testing an open, manufacturer-neutral digital platform for autonomous vehicles in public transport. It connects vehicles from different manufacturers with operations control centres, dispatch and booking systems, and infrastructure data, so that autonomous scheduled and on-demand services can later transition into regular operation more easily and anywhere.

To date, autonomous driving projects in German public transport have largely remained within closed systems. However, if vehicles, operations control centres and software do not work together reliably, and if it is not possible to learn from the insights of other projects, the result is costly custom adaptations and inefficient duplicate structures. The lack of standards makes it harder to switch providers, drives up implementation costs and slows the transition from pilot to regular operation. This is precisely where MILA.mobility comes in: it is developing a platform for the industry with an open, manufacturer-neutral system architecture. In future, this will make it easier for transport operators to integrate autonomous vehicles from different manufacturers into their existing systems. This strengthens interoperability, simplifies procurement and further development, and improves the conditions for reliable operation.
