Commercial Vehicle Test Platform
Decarbonizing heavy-duty transportation requires innovative solutions to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. One promising technology is dynamic charging while driving using a pantograph system.
In this system, the truck is powered by an overhead line, which simultaneously charges the battery. If the truck leaves the overhead line section or changes lanes, the pantograph retracts, and the battery takes over powering the drivetrain. This method not only allows for a reduction in battery size but also increases operational flexibility.
The combination of direct power consumption and battery backup enables an efficient and sustainable energy supply; an important step toward climate-neutral freight transport.
