Data Scientist – Autonomous Driving (f/m/d)
Vehicle Intelligence & Automated Driving
Are you wondering
- How can I help advance the development of autonomous vehicles from Europe for Europe?
- How well does an autonomous vehicle really drive today — and how well do humans actually drive?
- How can this performance be measured in a data-driven way across millions of kilometers in real road traffic?
- How do you turn this data into robust safety evidence?
Your profile
- Completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, data science or a comparable discipline
- Interest in automotive engineering and automated driving
- Confident handling of data: statistics, data analysis, working with large datasets
- Programming skills in Python and/or C/C++
- Independent, reliable and systematic way of working
- Very good written and spoken English; very good German language skills are an advantage
- Basic knowledge of “safety of automated driving” is an advantage, but not a prerequisite
Your tasks
- You design and support large-scale field trials of automated driving functions in public road traffic
- You develop metrics and evaluation methods that allow driving performance and safety to be assessed objectively
- You establish a robust human baseline as a benchmark for autonomous driving
- You build data pipelines for the acquisition, preparation and analysis of large volumes of driving data
- You translate your results into systematic safety arguments and contribute them to standardization, regulation and international publications
What we offer
- Interdisciplinary research in global cooperation with leading automotive manufacturers and suppliers
- Access to one of the largest real-world test datasets for automated driving in Europe
- Unique facilities: our own test vehicles, state-of-the-art computing infrastructure and a high-dynamic driving simulator
- Challenging tasks in a highly motivated team
- Early opportunity to lead your own projects on your own responsibility
- Option to pursue a doctorate (Dr.-Ing.)
- Remuneration according to [EG 13] TV-L, flexible working hours and mobile working
