Industry trends and IP environment Self-propelled vehicles and e-mobility in Korea
Our Meetup series for interested parties presents and discusses current, practice-relevant research topics in the field of future mobility.
South Korea is one of the largest producers of cars. As in most other countries, developments in the field of autonomous driving and newer drive systems, such as electric and fuel cell drive systems, play a major role here. The first part of the presentation will focus on current projects and activities of Korean companies as well as on measures taken by the Korean government in these areas.
Patents are often used to assess the innovative strength of a company. In the second part of the lecture, the general trend in patent applications for self-driving vehicles as well as the patent-related synergy effects of a joint venture with the participation of a Korean company will be shown by means of patent analysis examples. Furthermore, patent portfolios of Korean and Japanese fuel cell vehicle manufacturers are examined.
