Joint European effort boosts automated driving

L3Pilot, Europe’s first comprehensive pilot test of automated driving on public roads demonstrates automated systems for cars in Hamburg, Germany, in conjunction with ITS World Congress 2021.

  • SAE Level 3 and 4 functions tested on ordinary roads in seven European countries, including cross-border activities
  • Pan-European testing environment and methodology developed
  • “Code of Practice” created to speed up and harmonise the development of automated driving systems
  • Framework for collection, storage and evaluation of large amounts of data in a harmonised manner created
  • Datasets for further research publicly available
  • Increased safety identified as main benefit of SAE Level 3 automated driving systems

UNICARagil – Rollout des ersten Prototypen

Nach 3 Jahren intensiver Arbeit ist es endlich soweit – der erste Prototyp steht auf den eigenen Rädern. Beim Rollout am Dienstag, den 27. April 2021, durfte das erste Fahrzeug der UNICARagil-Familie mit eigenem Antrieb die Werkstatthallen des ika verlassen. Die Fahrplattform wurde in den letzten Wochen mit einem entsprechenden Aufbaumodul kombiniert und das elektrische Bordnetz sowie die Antriebe integriert. So steht nun dieser Prototyp zur Erprobung der autonomen Fahrfunktionen zur Verfügung, drei weitere Fahrzeuge für andere Anwendungsfälle werden zeitnah folgen. Das ist ein entscheidender Meilenstein im Projekt UNICARagil. Dieses wichtige Ereignis in der Entwicklung modularer automatisierter und fahrerloser Fahrzeuge wird natürlich der aktuellen Situation entsprechend digital aufbereitet, um im Nachgang der Öffentlichkeit sowie dem Projektbeirat und –konsortium präsentiert zu werden.
